Is the Maldives the “IT” vacation spot? I don’t have a bucket list, per se, but I do have a mental list of places I would like to visit someday. That is, once I find the time (and I mean it in the literal sense) and have padded my bank account well enough that I can go for days, weeks, or months without having to worry about pocket money.

My list isn’t extensive, as I prefer quality over quantity. Nevertheless, at the top of my list, you’ll find France, Italy, Switzerland, Brazil, and, you guessed right, the Maldives, among others. It’s quite funny actually, because unlike most people, I don’t go to the beach to swim but merely to enjoy the sights, the breeze, the food, and to people-watch.

Yes, you read that right – I am not fond of swimming in the beach. I’m sorry. I just find the whole activity cumbersome, and I really hate getting sand in places they are not supposed to go to. Swimming in the pool, though, is tolerable. I know, weird, right?

My last beach outing was in November of 2019 when the family went to Cebu for some R&R. I sat by the beach with the family, watching the kids frolic in the water, but once almost everyone changed into their bathing suits, I went to the air-conditioned room and took a nap. I only woke up when it was time for lunch. Yes, boring, I know.

But hey! I am not here to insist my weirdness on you guys. LOL The crux of this post is about the Maldives island, which is included in my bucket list. I know that going there will cost an arm and a leg, but a girl can dream, right?

Maldives Island, A Dream Destination

I’ve seen pictures of people who have traveled to the Maldives island for vacation, and what’s great about the place is that there are plenty of resorts that will appeal to any type of traveler. Hence, there is a resort that will best suit the needs of foodies, families, couples on their honeymoon, and even marine biologists. It’s just unfortunate that on-arrival visas to Maldives are under temporary suspension since 27th March as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak. In fact, there are plenty of news articles that provide updates on Maldives Coronavirus status.

A Peek into Maldives Island

Maldives Resort

Anyway, if you are someone who likes island adventure, then Maldives beach is surely a destination that you shouldn’t miss. Surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, the country of Maldives is composed of several islands with shores that boast of pearly white sand beaches and blue seas. It is a tropical paradise where guests can just enjoy an idyllic vacation away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

During the day, you can indulge in scuba diving or snorkeling, jet skiing, boating, swimming in the warm waters of the ocean, or just simply working up your tan on the white sand shore. Happy hour can start late in the afternoon or early in the evening. With a cocktail and your loved one, you can already rest and wait for the sun to set and get ready to party for the rest of the night.

The Maldives island is just perfect for those who want a tropical holiday, this coming from someone who live in a tropical country. I’m pretty sure you will not have a shortage of Maldives resorts to choose from based on your preferred activities. See that casita in the picture of a Maldives resort? The one with the pool in it? That’s probably what I will book. I mean, if I can’t swim in the beach, might as well take advantage of the pool.

Now you see why Maldives is in my bucket list. I mean, I don’t need to swim in order to enjoy a cocktail or two, don’t I? Moreover, I can work on those tan lines while reading a good book near the beach. So yeah, I can enjoy lounging in a Maldives resort without actually getting into the water. Yeah, weird, as we’ve established from the get-go.

What about you? Which places are in your bucket list?
